This site opened for business on August 23, 1996, the 59th anniversary of Roussel's death. It is strictly a labor of love. Working to produce it has, with great vividness, shown me that you get out of music what you put into it. By studying Roussel's music so intently, I've derived a much deeper enjoyment from his music -- and, I'd even go so far as to say, from his life.

BTW, I'm not a musicologist. I'm just a lowly oboist — and everyone knows what all that concentrated air pressure does to oboists' brains, right? If you see something that is in error, please let me know — but keep this disclaimer in mind.

I thought of searching the Web for a Breugel home page and linking to it, then thought better of it. If you like the paintings hinted at here, get thee to a library for some books! (Or, if you're lucky enough, an art museum for the real thing.) Web graphics simply don't do this sort of thing justice.
