Muse Executive Summary

Muse

Muse Productions is a nine year old independent feature film company. It has attracted national and worldwide attention to its product with minimal overhead, production cost, and marketing. Muse works with current and future star celebrities.

Muse’s uniquely high “eyeball” to dollar ratio has given it a strategic role to play in new media and an opportunity to grow a hundredfold as a content producer and as a hybrid technology/entertainment company that packages and distributes content to the new venues.

Distribution Explosion

The new media technology explosion is generating a plethora of new distribution paths and platforms competing for audience.

These new technologies offer convenience, empowerment and flexibility. They render existing structures in media distribution, entertainment format, finance and advertising arbitrary and ultimately indefensible.

The existing ways mainstream electronic media make money will change radically. A small nimble digital studio with close talent relationships can seize sponsor and new form opportunities created by this change.

Nearly all content in the new venues lacks names and “brands” from mainstream media. When the public searches the web for entertainment names they aren’t directed to the new venues. Work from established writers, directors and actors will drive traffic from search sites to the new venues. Compelling content gives the new venues instant credibility.

 “Name brands” & digital entertainment

Muse will create entertainment for the new digital venues with “name brand” talent, now, not later. Muse will own the “digital” rights to this content and in some cases retain rights in all media. Retaining copyrights benefits Muse and Muse’s equity investors three ways. Full digital rights give Muse a free hand to invent new distribution practices. Muse will build systems to support these practices. These practices and systems will be an important Muse asset. Muse content will become a library, which in the new digital media is perpetually exploited. Muse will pioneer evergreen cross-linking and search engine marketing for its digital library. These techniques will become part of the Muse service component.

Content Pyramid

At the base of the Muse content pyramid will be intimate verite digital video about and by Muse talent. Above that will be short form narrative works sometimes related to properties that may become feature films. At the apex of the Muse pyramid in production values and least in quantity is the Muse slate of feature films.

Service and Agency Function

In order to efficiently produce and distribute its content to all the new venues, Muse will create its own business to business applications. Distribution to the new venues in particular is a horizontal service that other content companies will find far easier to use than to replicate.

Since the break-up of the movie studios in the ‘50s Hollywood production has epitomized the project based virtual company model. The adoption of web-based facilitation of this model has barely begun. Muse will use an unusually sophisticated large database approach to its infrastructure. Muse will use this infrastructure to:

·         Create collaboration space for its creative community.

·         Create its web content.

·         Publish its websites.

·         Create collaboration and contribution spaces for its public websites.

·         Create individuation services (e.g. customized publishing) for all its constituencies, professional and public.

·         Distribute content to new venue customers.

·         Manage advertising, cross-linking and service revenues.

Equality of Content: Leveling the playing field

In the dawning digital era, all content is competing with all other content all the time. Yet the ability of content to find its audience is unprecedented. The Muse digital rights compete effectively with far more costly entertainment properties. In the digital era the value of pure copyright without the convoluted overhead of legacy institutions and distribution systems can be discovered. Muse offers a pure investment opportunity in the full exploitation of digital rights in its leading edge content.

Muse Digital Studio

Muse has recruited a group of filmmakers to develop content for the new medium. The following internationally prominent artists are primarily known as actors, writers, directors, and producers or for combinations of those functions in principal capacities. Muse will develop with these filmmakers new content in new forms that will make new digital venues more compelling and credible as rivals to extant media.
